Raj Kundra was apprehended in 2021 and he has not produced a movie based on his incarceration experience during that entire incident. The film is titled UT 69 and since his arrest, Raj has consistently faced cyberbullying. He has been referred to as a ‘porn mogul’ and predominantly, he is recognized as Shilpa Shetty’s spouse. In a recent interview, Raj has expressed that these labels do cause him pain.
Kundra shared during a conversation with Pinkvilla that he would be dishonest if he claimed this does not affect him. However, he recently watched a Karan Johar interview where he discussed how he deals with online harassment and Raj has started implementing those strategies. But now he has become so accustomed to the cyberbullying because people have been writing the same things to him for the past 2 years.
He further added that those individuals do not have any better understanding and this is their way of gaining attention as trolls. Raj also shared the advice given to him by Shilpa. She told him, ‘Do not complain, do not explain. Just move forward. You know your worth and who you are. Forget about these people.’
The entrepreneur-turned-actor, further added that one has to be resilient within the industry, focus on their goals, and move forward despite challenges. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Raj opened up about the reasons behind making this film. He said, “I needed some closure, there was something inside me that was bothering me. I wanted the world to experience what I went through. Somewhere, I want people to realize that there are lives that do not need to endure what they passed through. The film encapsulates emotions, bonds, living conditions of the inmates, the food they had, etc. Initially, I was considering turning my notes into a memoir, but Shahnawaz Ali (the director) advised against it. He suggested that it could be made into a movie. I found the idea intriguing and decided to act on it.”
