The OnePlus 12 is expected to debut soon as the flagship model from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer. While the company has not announced the launch date of the smartphone yet, a previous report suggested that the OnePlus 12 may launch in China in December, followed by a global launch in January 2024. Over time, there have been numerous leaks and rumors regarding the specifications of the upcoming smartphone, none of which have been confirmed by the company yet. Design
The launch of the OnePlus 12 may be just weeks away, but leaks surrounding the device point to potential changes in various aspects. In terms of design, the OnePlus 12 may have a slightly similar appearance to its predecessor, the OnePlus 11. However, leaks so far suggest minor changes to enhance everyday usability. The circular camera housing seems to be retained from the OnePlus 11, while the front camera is positioned at the center.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC and 2K Screen
A recent leak from a Weibo post has indicated that the OnePlus 12 will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. This aligns with a previous leak that suggested the OnePlus 12 would be equipped with the yet-to-be-announced chipset.
In terms of display, the OnePlus 12 is rumored to offer a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. The post also mentioned that the smartphone will feature a 6.82-inch QHD+ curved LTPO display with a resolution of 1,440 x 3,168 pixels. The screen is said to support 2,160Hz PWM dimming and have a refresh rate of 120Hz. It has been mentioned that the upcoming OnePlus 12 will boast BOE’s 2K screen.
Upgraded Cameras
Regarding the camera setup, the smartphone is expected to feature a Sony IMX966 OIS-enabled 50-megapixel sensor with a focal length of 23mm and an f/1.7 aperture. Other sensors include a 48-megapixel ultra-wide telephoto camera (anticipated to be the Sony IMX581) with an f/2.2 aperture, and another OmniVision OV64B 64-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The sensor might also enable hybrid zooming. Another report with leaked renders suggests that the smartphone will have a hole punch display design and a curved display.
Battery Enhancements
The battery specifications of the OnePlus 12 suggest that the smartphone could house a 5,400mAh battery with support for fast 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. This information is also supported by the latest leak which suggests that the smartphone will feature a USB 3.2 port. It is expected to run on Android 14 with OxygenOS 14 on top.
